Tips And Tricks...

Ciao amici...!

Let's talk about some tips and tricks that can take your Astrophotography to the next level. But before that I want to tell you guys, that modern day smartphone cameras are capable of doing Astrophotography. Not all. But still, you can get Milkyway from your smartphone too. Here are some seetings that your smartphone camera should have.

First one is Manual Mode. In some smartphones, it's called Professional or Pro Mode. It gives you full control over your camera. You can adjust shutter speed, ISO just as a DSLR. The thing smartphone cameras doesn't allow us to change is aperture. It is fixed. But that's no problem. Because it's wide. Try out testing your seetings on a moonless night. Most of new smartphone cameras allow shutter speed up to 32 seconds. And an ISO of 3200. That's enough for capturing Milkyway.

This is a picture of Milkyway taken from OnePlus One.
So, you don't know what your phone's capabilities are.

Now let's move on to some tips that are very useful.

Always carry 2 batteries. Because they will get exhausted soon as you're shooting at slower shutter speeds. That's essential.

Always take a lens hood. It'll protect your camera and lens from dust and cold.

Always shoot in Raw. Now that's important. A Raw file is a type of image file like JPEG or PNG or etc. So why shoot in Raw?
JPEG's and other formats have some limitations. They change some data of your image when clicked. But a Raw file keeps all the shooting data. It shoots what the camera sees. No changes. Thus, Raw files are too much larger in size. But they're pretty easy to post process. And believe me,
You can decrease quality later but can't increase it.
So, always shoot in highest quality.

Carry 2 or more Memory or SD cards. Because hight quality will occupy more space.

Keep your battery charger in camera bag. Because sometimes, you have place to charge your batteries too.

Take a friend for company. That's necessary. Because you can set infinity focus with help of him. Tell him to hold a torch in his hand and go far away. Than, by using your camera's Digital zoom, focus it untill it appears as a sharp point. And you're ready to go.
